It is with great sadness that the family of Anand Mahaling Pishe announces his peaceful passing on January 30, 2026, at Orchard View Nursing Home in Gagetown, New Brunswick.

Born on September 4, 1940, in Barshi, Maharastra, India, he was the son of the late Mahaling and Bhagirathi Pishe; however, he sadly lost his mother as an infant. Anand was predeceased by his mother, father, stepmother, his younger brother, Jayant Pishe, and his beloved wife of 52 years, Indrayani Pishe. He is survived by his five siblings; sisters, Shobha Kaple, Sheela Konapure, and Hemlata Shete; and his brothers, Prakash Pishe and Sunil Pise; in addition to a wonderful family of spouses, nieces and nephews back in India.

Anand earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Fergusson College in Pune, India and in 1964, came to Canada with just $45 and a suitcase to pursue a graduate degree in Engineering at the University of Waterloo. In 1970, he married Indrayani, and together they began their life in Fredericton, New Brunswick; building a future grounded in hard work and resilience.

Anand went on to build an impressive career as a brilliant Professional Structural Engineer, beginning with York Structural Steel, and later working as a consultant. Over the years, he contributed to many significant and lasting projects, including the Skylon Tower in Niagara Falls, the Westmorland Street Bridge and the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, as well as the Belledune and Dalhousie Generating Stations. He was proud of his work and the role it played in shaping communities across the region.

Alongside his professional accomplishments, Anand was a steadfast partner to Indrayani, supporting her in many entrepreneurial ventures throughout their life together. He firmly believed in the value of education and hard work, lessons he passed on to his children through both words and example. He taught that life is not always fair, but that challenges can be overcome with professionalism, perseverance, and quiet determination.

Anand lived a life defined by perseverance, sacrifice, and deep devotion to his family including his son, Tushar (Colleen); his daughter, Rashmi (Hugh); and his four grandchildren, Maya, Nikhil, Neel and Leena. He spent countless hours organizing, admiring, and updating his extensive photo collection of each one. The ever-evolving “wall of grandchildren” reflected his love and pride, and it brought him endless joy.

Please note that while no services will be held (as per Anand’s wishes), our family would feel honoured if you kept him in your thoughts during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Anand’s name to the Orchard View Nursing Home in Gagetown or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
