Jennifer passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 68 on November 22, 2023 at Fredericton Hospice House, Fredericton NB, after a battle with cancer. Jen was born February 17, 1955 in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, England to the late John and Joan Foster. She was older sister to Wendy and Rose.
The family moved to Burlington, Ontario when Jen was 10. Jennifer had daughter Amber on July 21, 1985, and married Mike Shea on Aug 26, 1986. She worked at Smurfit MBI for 22 years, until retirement. Jennifer moved to Penniac, NB in 2020 along with Amber and Finley to spend more time together in the outdoors they all love.
Jen’s favourite pastimes included reading, fishing, camping, live music, Nascar, and being with friends and family, and most of all, being Ger to her Bubby. She spent years as foster-mom through Choices, but her real passion was in caring for dogs – Jen was a dedicated advocate for animal welfare. She lovingly rescued, fostered and re homed many furry friends in need.
Jen had a great sense of humour, and was always there to help friends and family in need.
She is survived by her husband, Mike Shea; daughter, Amber Shea; granddaughter, Finley Murphy; nephews, Kris Holland and Ed Royle (Jen); great nieces, Abby, Amelia, and Freya; niece, Vanessa Holland (Shane); great nieces, Avery, Lilly, and Rosie.
She will be missed by her two besties, Sandy Smith, and Lise Bard, and her goddaughter, Dana Bard.
Jen was predeceased by her parents, John (2013) and Joan (2012); sister, Wendy Foster Royle (2012); brother in law, Ron Royle (2012); nephew Blake Royle (Karolyn) (2017); and sister, Rose Foster Holland (Ron) (2018).
Thank you to the nurses and staff at the Hospice House for their care and support.
A celebration of Jennifer’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jen’s name may be made to the Fredericton Hospice House.
