Listen to Obituary

On November 14, 2025 after battling cancer, Karen Julia Heissner slipped away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 74. She will be deeply missed by her son Neal (Shannon) and her daughter Heather; her sister Elaine and brother-in-law Chris; two nephews, Adam and Colin; two grand-nieces, Jemma and Vayda, and Lacey, her grand-dog, whom she adored and loved to spoil. Karen also had many close friends, and clients who, over the years, remained dear friends as well. She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.

In her youth, Karen was an all-star field hockey player, who had the incredible opportunity to play for Quebec in the Canada Games. Not only was she an outstanding athlete, Karen was also a gifted and classically trained pianist and she thoroughly enjoyed teaching piano to several eager, young music lovers. Ever a whiz with numbers, she excelled at her career as a bookkeeper for many years. She loved to read and play cards.

At Karen’s request, no funeral services will be held at this time. Her family will find special ways to honour her memory and we encourage those who knew her to do the same. She will live on forever in our hearts. Many thanks to Hospice House (Fredericton) for their compassionate care. Donations to Hospice House in Karen’s memory would be greatly appreciated.
