It is with great sadness from the family of Keith Douglas Dorcas to inform his many friends and acquaintances of his passing on Dec 5, 2022. Keith was born on June 23, 1938 and grew up in Williamsburg.
Keith D. Dorcas is survived by his partner, Cheryl Hennessey; son, Rockland Dorcas (Sheila); daughter, Tanya Kelly (Tim); step-sons, Tyler and Kyle Anderson; grandchildren, Todd, Tabrinna, Kriston, Justin, Tony; great grandchildren, Shalyla, Maxx, Alexis, Kelleigh, Kendrix and bonus great grandchildren, Jo Ann and Joseph Kendall; sister Margery Hay and sister in law Beryl Dorcas and many nieces and nephews.
Beside his parents, Douglas & Blanche, he was predeceased by his siblings, Bill, Ina, Marion, and Gordon.
Keith was raised on the homestead farm of Williamsburg. He took great pride in the work on the farm and even ran home during lunch hour from school to complete his farm chores.
Keith worked at many jobs during this lifetime and the two that stand out the most were his own trucking company named Kitko, which he proudly employed himself and many others from 1987 -1997, and then went to work for West Jet, which became his passion and fulfilled his dream while helping others and creating lifelong friendships and memories, which he spoke of very often.
Keith was outgoing and friendly; he never missed an opportunity to make a new friend. We would like to thank the innumerable people for enriching his life by answering his many questions about where they came from and about their lives. His list of friends is too long to name, but please know how important each of you all were to Keith.
Keith’s hobbies include (and as dad would say “just the fact ma’am”):
- Snow mobiling
- Coaching hockey
- Sunday school teacher
- Christmas tree farming
- Beekeeping
- Chicken farming
- Building and flying model planes (Spitfire being his favorite)
- Building bird houses for the purple martin
- Family genealogy
- Honouring our vets (boys from the Burg)
- Built his dream home (log cabin in the Burg)
- Telling stories, (truth or spinning yarn, as he would say, “That’s the way it was told to me”)
- Teaching life lessons without punishments
- Working on his computer
Funeral Services for family and friends will take place on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at 2 pm with Pastor Gordon Mowry presiding, the gathering will be held at Cross Creek Baptist Church. Burial will be announced at a later date.

Ron Dorcas says
To Rocky, Tanya, Cheryl and all extended family of whom Keith was so proud – Cousin Keith was a “lighthouse” to many of our family with his genuine interest in concern as to how our lives were unfolding and his vast knowledge of family and community history.
From Keith taking care of me during the wedding of Todd & Caroline Dorcas in the 1950’s to the entertaining stories Keith told even after his diagnosis, Keith was always someone I could rely on.
You can be proud of a father and partner who was both a friend and inspiration to many. Lynn & I cherish memories of the family gathering Keith (and you Cheryl) organized at Keith’s post-retirement home in Williamsburg.
Definitely Keith was a beacon of how life should be lived.
