Fredericton

A proud Marysville girl since the age of three, Sharron Barnett’s roots ran deep in both Marysville and Fredericton’s North Side. After graduating from Fredericton High School, she began her career with the provincial government before transitioning into the insurance industry, where she built a reputation as a respected and knowledgeable agent.

Retirement, however, didn’t quite suit Sharron. Ever energetic and eager to stay active, she joined the team at the north side Walmart. She often laughed about how she’d spend hours tidying the shelves—only for customers to undo her handiwork within minutes!

Sharron later found her perfect fit at the Kent store on the North Side, where she truly shone in the lighting department. Friends and former clients loved to drop in and find her there. Though surprised when asked to train in plumbing, she embraced the challenge with good humour. She did well, but often noted how some customers—typically men—would listen politely, then double-check her advice with a male coworker. Still, she took it all in stride. In the spring and summer, you’d find her happily tending to plants and flowers—one of her favourite spots in the store.

When she finally retired for good, it was only because she insisted. Kent’s certainly didn’t want to lose such a dedicated and beloved team member.

Sharron was the daughter of Marguerite and James Barnett, the Marysville Police Chief—an upbringing that occasionally led to some colourful stories, many of which will forever remain part of her quiet legacy.

She is survived by her brother Richard Barnett (Barbara) of Moncton and sister Marilyn Smith (Gordon) of Kingston, Ontario. Her greatest joy came from her children—daughter Michelle Colford (Jon) of Calgary and son Michael Colford (Amber) of Blackfalds, Alberta—as well as her beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Sharron was deeply grateful for her wonderful neighbours Aline, Brian, and Rod, whose kindness, home-cooked meals, and heartfelt friendship made life easier and brighter.

From December 4, 1948, to May 23, 2025, Sharron lived life on her own terms—with warmth, humour, determination, and deep love for her family and friends. She’ll be remembered for her ever-present smile, helpful nature, a touch of stubbornness, and a heart full of loyalty and affection.

At Sharron’s request, there will be no service. Her spirit will live on in the lives she touched.
