Lieutenant Joseph Marcel Guy Lafranchise, CD, know to all as Guy, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital, New Brunswick, on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at the age of 71, after a brief illness. Born in Montreal, Quebec, Guy was the son of both the late Lucien and Denise (Pelland) Lafranchise. Guy, at the age of 17, joined the Royal Canadian Navy. He went on to serve a distinguished career as not only a Submariner in the Canadian Navy, but also as a Halifax Police Officer, a Federal Fisheries officer, and a Senior Enforcement Officer – Wildlife Trade, with Environment Canada, Moncton, NB. Eugene Fowler of Fredericton passed away peacefully on Friday, September 23, 2022, at the age of 80. Gene was born on July 30, 1942, to the late Eugene Sr. and Zola Fowler (Black) in Holtville, New Brunswick. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon (Lowe), his son, Rob Fowler (Eva Shimaoka), daughter, Angela Fowler (Ben Kennedy), sisters, Eleanor McLaughlin, Dorothy Fowler (Carney Flynn) and sister-in-law, Judy Wilson. Gene was a doting grandfather to Matthew Fowler, Zoe and Kavina Kennedy. Born on July 18, 1973, she was the daughter of Marjorie (Cooper) Jewett and Steven Kykosz. Anyone who knew Jenny would have to agree she had a heart of gold, she would do anything for anyone. Francis “Frank” William de Beaupré passed away on at the Dr. Everett Chalmer’s Hospital in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Born on January 5, 1966, he was the son of the late Francis Malcolm de Beaupré and Beryl Rose Marie McKinnon. Frank is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Walton (Kirby); nieces, Savannah (Branden) and Aysia; nephew, Kirby Alexander. At Frank’s request, there will be no visitation or service. Donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
Peter Wesley Masters
In the early morning of August 30, 2022, Peter Wesley Masters passed on peacefully to his next journey. Peter was a kind soul who was loved by anyone who met him. He adored his children, grandchildren, and cherished his entire family, and friends. Peter is survived by daughter Nicole, son Kevin, siblings Tommy, Doreen, Violet, Vivian, Ricky, Bonnie, Diane, Hanford, grandchildren Max and Emma, as well as several nieces and nephews. Darrell Mesheau 1943-2022 Darrell loved life and lived it. He was a diplomat in the Canadian Foreign Service posted in Canadian Embassies in Rome and Tel Aviv, and was an executive civil servant in the Canadian Federal Immigration Department, assigned to offices in Buffalo, Ottawa, and Halifax. He served in the Canadian Naval Officer Training Program through the University Naval Training Division (UNTD), and on the boards of several charitable organizations. Darrell was a gentleman; warm, caring, funny, and intelligent, with an infectious spirit. He was a bright light wherever he went. It is with deep sadness that the family announce the passing of Bombardier Michael James Whittaker, of Fredericton, NB, which occurred on Thursday, June 2nd, 2022, at the age of 50. Born on January 20th, 1972, in Saint John, NB, he was the son of James and the late Diane (MacKay) Whittaker. As a young boy, Mike was filled with energy and curiosity. He did well in school and participated in a variety of activities, including Beavers, Scouts, volleyball, fishing, golfing, hunting and hockey. His sisters recall having frozen hands and feet as they were being taken around Atlantic Canada for hockey tournaments. He also loved being outside surrounded by nature. Born on December 23, 2000, she was the daughter of Michele LaPointe and Corey Bodechon (step father), and Peter Bath. Sam was known for her love of baking, cooking, gaming, Asian media and her love for her cherished pets. Peter and Vivian Martin passed away peacefully in Fredericton after a happy and loving life together. Peter died on May 5 from a number of health issues and Vivian on May 12 due to a stroke. They were devoted to each other and did everything together all their lives so it isn’t surprising that they passed away within a week of each other. Peter and Vivian would have been married 73 years this June. They leave their daughters to celebrate the rich lives they had together, Susan (Tony Little) of Fredericton and Pauline (Martin Finnerty) of Canmore, AB, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Nova Scotia, Ontario, Alberta, Australia and England.
